“Mastery is attained when you realize you are spirit codified in a body.” – Guru Raj

The physical form that we embody is one of the most precious things we have ever been gifted. It’s taken myself a long time to see this, for this world can be very harsh, and we can wish to leave the world to the places we remember being much easier than here (well, for myself anyways). Navair Singh Khalsa writes in his book, “The Ten Light Bodies of Consciousness” that Yogi Bhajan said it takes 8.4 million lifetimes to receive a human body cable of self-realization.

8.4 million lifetimes! My goodness, I’ve been on a journey of a lifetime! 😉

It is one of the greatest privileges to be here and we have strived hard to be where we are now. We are envied by even the Angels, it is said, though I personally have trouble seeing Angels envy us. The thing is though, we are able to experience polarity to such a degree that other Beings in the world can’t because we have the physical form.

“Karma has to become dharma. Dharma is where the account is cleared. It is where your discipline and commitments make you positive and graceful…That ability to turn negative into positive, to support all your actions with your facets and manners is the result of meditation.” – Yogi Bhajan

This is the body where all the other nine bodies play out their parts. It is said that in this physical form we are able to choose dharma (essentially our destiny of service) or karma. You always have this choice, in each and every moment.

My teachers pointed out in our class on this body that sacrifice is NOT martyrdom. It is the ability to make something sacred. It is the ability to use something to elevate something else. We were gifted this human body to use to elevate others. How are you going to use it? How are you going to take care of it?

When this body is strong you are able to mentor other people. You are able to go down to another persons level and lift them up. As a teacher, you are able to go to their level and speak in a way that will elevate them. This is the body that allows us to create form of the abstract, letting ideas take shape into this reality.

We are encouraged to use this body to work out our karma and emotions and to elevate others. Inside our physical body our emotions and traumas are stored. You are able to release what the body holds through different actions and as you do you will come more into your authentic self.

When this body is weak you may find you have trouble expressing yourself and that you feel negative emotions often such as anger, greed, jealously. You may find yourself ungrateful and competitive. You may also be afraid to take the position of Teacher.

How to Balance: Exercise regularly. Teach. Take care of your body – love it! Eat well. Prosperity Meditation #1. Do Yoga.

Resources: From my understanding, Yogi Bhajan taught about the ten bodies sporadically over many years of teaching. He didn’t teach a class on the Ten Bodies. Various students of his have collected the information I will be presenting to you here, namely from the The Aquarian Teacher Instructor Manual Level One and The Ten Light Bodies of Consciousness by Nivair Singh Khalsa.
