The Top Three Ways to Meditate with Your Crystals

Meditating in combined methods 1 & 2! ‘Cause I’m kinda crazy like that! Hands are in gyan mudra position.

I meditate with my crystals a lot.

Almost everyday in some format.

I wear them. Sleep with them. Have them on my desk. On my paintings. In my kitchen. With my plants. Hanging in my windows. In my water. You name it; There’s probably been a crystal there or there will be one shortly.

In my journey with crystals I’ve developed three favourite ways to meditate with my crystals. They are the meditations I find to have the most effect in my life.

Notes on Picking Your Crystals: I don’t really follow a book most days. When I’m trying to do something very specific I might look up the crystals that help with it but I believe the mineral kingdom is so much larger than what you will find in a book or on Google – and it has A LOT more personality!

Sometimes I’ll approach my collection and ask a precise question: “Which one of you will help me most with _________?” but typically to choose my crystals for the day I will approach the bookcase my crystals live in and as them who wants to meditate. Usually I’ll hear a name of a crystal or maybe one will seem to jump out at me… or probably two or three… I choose every time I do this to trust my intuition is telling me something true and accept these are the right crystals for me to meditate with today.

Now that we have all our crystals gathered and ready we are ready to meditate! Here are my top three ways to meditate!

1) Easy Pose

Use this Method When: You would like a simple meditation to do anywhere. You would like to connect to a particular mineral. When you would like to focus on one thing.

This meditation is good to use for only one or two minerals at a time. The minerals are held in your hands and depending on your mudra (hand position) you might only be able to hold one mineral.

Step One: Pick your mineral(s)!

Step Two: Sit in easy pose, which is sitting crosslegged or lotus pose, a traditional meditation pose.

Step Three: Choose your mudra and place your mineral(s) in the palm(s) of your hand(s). I typically will sit with my hands in gyan mudra and have minerals inside each of my hands or I will have my hands in veetarag mudra – both hands on the lap, palms up, the right hand on the left hand – and place the mineral on the top palm.

Step Four: Meditate.

In this meditation I will sometimes invite the crystal to share with me whatever it wants to share with me. After I make the invitation I will pay attention to how I feel and my breath keeping an open and (somewhat) empty mind. Sometimes this invitation alone will bring me to a deep place with the crystals and sometimes nothing will happen. Both are okay. If nothing happens I simply meditate on the breath until I feel done. Even this allows my energy to tune into the minerals energy.

2) Inside a Crystal Grid

Use this method when: You have a meditation you would like amplified by the crystals. You would like to do an active meditation involving lots of hand movements. You would like to do a simple and easy meditation without worrying about anything else.

This sounds a lot more fancy and complicated than it is!

Step one: Place your crystals in a large square/triangle/hexagram/pentagram/etc. formation. You can use any shape – just make sure there’s room for you to comfortably sit inside the shape! Typically I place the crystals in the corners of the shapes – not along the lines.

Step Two: Take your place inside the grid. Make sure your crystals are happy where they’ve been placed, aka, ask yourself if each crystal is in the “right” place for best results. You might have to swap one or two (I do all the time) until the grid feels just “right”. That’s perfect!

If you can’t tell or it feels good already then don’t worry about this step! You did right the first time around! And anyhow, crystals are a pretty easygoing group. 😉

Step Three: Activate your grid! You can do this step with your finger or your wand or in your head. It doesn’t matter with which crystal you begin, just make sure you connect your crystals in one fluid direction and you end at the beginning crystal.

Point your wand or finger at the starter crystal and move to the next crystal and then next. As you do this imagine a glowing energy connection between all the crystals. I almost always see white energy glowing from crystal to crystal. It doesn’t matter what the colour is, it just matters that each of your crystals is connected to each other until you get to the last crystal.

Now you are inside your grid! Yay!

Commence your meditation!

To end: Disconnect your crystals using the same method as Step 3 and thank your crystals for joining you. 🙂

3) Crystallized Laying on of Hands

Use This Method When: You are working on something very particular. You have at least 30 minutes of quiet time. You want to work with a lot of different minerals together.

Step One: Set your intention. It can be whatever you want it to be.

Step Two: Pick the crystals that match your intention either intuitively or with a book or both. I generally will use both for this method because I often have something extremely specific I want done when using this method.

Step Three: Lie down somewhere comfy you won’t be disturbed for at least 30 minutes.

Step Four: Lay the crystals on your body either intuitively or with the help of a good book. I often align the crystals with the colours of the chakras and place accordingly. Remember, you cannot place the crystal in the wrong spot! Anywhere you place the crystal is going to be beneficial. The spot its placed effects the impact – good, better and best placement – but all spots help your body align to its energy and vice versa.

Step Five: Now they are placed, relax and focus on your breath. Allow the crystals to do their work. The more you relax the easier it is for them to do their work. If you want to imagine them all connected go for it!

After about 30 minutes you will know the session is done. Some go longer and some go shorter, but all the sessions I’ve every done this way at some point I renter my body or seem to wake up even though I wasn’t asleep and I know the session is done for today.

Aftercare: Break the layout on your body and stay down for a few minutes. Let yourself come into your body just like after savasana. When you are ready sit up and place your crystals under the moonlight or with a piece of selenite to clear them for your next session. 🙂
